I think using radio broadcasts as a means to communicate information to a global 'spy' network has become passe. Modern spy and terrorist networks increasingly use a method called 'Steganography' to hide messages and data inside picture files or other media files that are easily posted through the internet. If you're in a western country, sure... but I imagine there's still plenty of spying going on in eastern Europe, the middle east, Asia, etc. where Internet connections are nowhere near as easy to come by. Of course there is satellite communication, but that's significantly more costly for everyone involved. Plenty of spying is just going to, e.g., local libraries, government officies, etc. and turning the vast volumes of data that if freely available into useful *information* for your own government... a very ho-hum sort of job that requires little if any technology. |
