Good link and the references were appreciated though the discussion was a
bit confusing.

So in other words to all those that have suspect items; err on the safe side
and discard them safely so as to avoid any possible infractions and
liabilities.

Sort o reminds me of the FCC ACT of 1934. Where they started stripping
frequencies away from amateurs. Soon we will end up all on a party
line frequency like 10.7 CM along with the solar flux, what the flux?

Childrens books (including Alfred Morgan's) before 1985 are being destroyed
due to lead content in the ink as per Consumer Product Safety Commission
ruling.

Please review article:http://www.city-journal.org/2009/eon0212wo.html

The lead content in ink would be very low, and only could poison you if
you ATE the book. *Any child who would read one of the Morgan books
would be old enough to no longer be chewing on books.

Of course such books shouldn't be thrown in landfill (and burning them
would be bad too as it would release the lead to the atmosphere!).

Perhaps the digitizing of books may be a safe recourse---but who can be

Isn't the whole point of the internet the fact that there are no
gatekeepers?

Quote "If that child were to actually start mouthing the book ..."

What has society come to? Where's the parents? In my youth parents or
grandparents would read to the children. Leaving a very small child
alone with a book would have been considered rather daft.

Maybe the next ARRL Handbook will contain a bold warning "Do not put in
mouth" in English, Spanish and Klingon ;-)

I guess CPSC isn't stopping with books... now its all terrain vehicles!

It seems that CPSC is using lead as a method of legislating anything 'they'
don't want out of existence by claiming that it is unsafe for childeren. I
don't see this trend stopping anytime soon---it will be interesting to see
whats next.

Where did that come from?

See that red dot that says "false"?

Confusing language and the law of unintended consequences is the
problem, no vast conspiracy to deprive people of their old books or kids
clothing. So it's been delayed. Maybe we can now go back to chemtrails
or something......
