I wanted to do this, but the woman of the moment imposed her fashion veto. I settled for mounting the antenna on the top of my backpack, and it worked fine and didn't scare the children. Mike It takes _all_ kinds, as the saying runs. D'accord. But ... but if you put it on your backpack, then it winds up looking like one of the backpack GPSen from the Ashtech or Trimble catalog! Where's the fun in _that_? Now, if you mount one of the high-$, high-precision Trimble or Ashtech GPS antennas, complete with planar choke-ring array, on or under your hat, _that_ qualifies as well out on the tinfoil-hat axis. I wonder if my Garmin 76 will talk to one of those, and where I can get one cheap. -- I saw part of a telecast of some Wagner opera or other on TV one time. It took two characters the best part of an hour to say "Oh! Hello!" to each other. At that point I turned it off, even though I was in grave danger of missing the first five or six minutes of "How're you doing?" -- Dave Brown |
