Filament Choke

Hi,

The filiment chokes i've seen had enamel wire
Does it matter? or will number 10 gauge solid house wire be ok
for a bifilar wound choke on ferrite rod?

TIA, Chuck (W3FJJ)

It might work, but it will not perform as well as if made with wire
with thinner insulation. You will not be able to get as many turns of
wire on the rod, and those turns will not be coupled together as well.
