Belden 9907

I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this question, I'm getting ready to
put new coax on my mobile system. I have 950 feet of Belden 9907 coax. It's
50
Ohm, low loss ethernet coax. Can It handle 75 watts from my Icom IC V-8000?
Or should I opt for standard Mini 8U coax? Thanks for the feedback.

From the Belden site.

899907 which is 9907 will handle from

4500W at 2Mhz
260W at 1Ghz

So yes, you have 950 ft of RG-58 size coax. See the Belden site for more
info on the losses at specific frequencies.

Thank you for your input, I've got a brand new rig on the way and my old 5/8
wave mount has coax chafed to the point of braids of shielding showing. I
thought the 9907 would work, but wanted more opinions before I burnt up a brand
new rig to High SWR. Once again Thanks!

Mike:
The COAX isn't going to be a cause for your new rig to burn up - but a high
SWR might (although the rig should shut down first). The question was "will
it handle the power," and apparently it will. Assuming that and a well
matched rig/coax/antenna combination - you will have no problems.

The operative word above is "should". I can't tell you how many times I've
repaired rigs with bad RF Amps due to the shut down system not doing it's
job. I'm talking H.F., 2 meters, public service radios. Best to test with a
good SWR meter or some better equipment like a bird or some other. Do very
short key ups til you see where it is initially and take it from there. Just
a word of caution.

I appreciate all the help. I'll check my soldering and antenna with a VOM
first, then with an SWR meter on low power (5 watts) and verify a low SWR as
with all my installations. It's just the 1st time using 9907 and wanted
feedback. Which is what I got. Thanks all and 73!
