where to buy this, or similar?

That tool is also known as a Neuses N-553A. Available from Neuses via
Google. Works for 327, 328 and similar bulbs.

Suggestion re lamp remover.
I have somwhere a tool that was used to remove the small (about one quarter
inch diam) cigar/tubular shaped telephone switchboard lamps.
Basically it was split metal tube, with a wooden handle. The two 'halves' of
the metal tube were tightened slightly by a pushing an angled lever. Thus
lamp could be withdrawn straight out.
Similar idea, of correct dimensions, might work for say dial lamps which are
bulb shape and either screwed into miniature Edison or given a quarter turn
into bayonet socket.
Someone such as Bill Turner may even have made such an item? Hard plastic
tubing might be an alternative to metal?
Terry.
