can valves be used in class E?

Hi,

Don't worry, I've surfed this question first till my fingers bled.
I'm considering designing a portable valve based transmitter for CW, and
I had been wondering if the same benefits that would apply to operating
an mosfet in class-E could also apply to, say, a small signal IF pentode
for operation in a cw final.

It seems to me that the idea, properly implemented, could at least give
me a much better output signal for the same amount of power supply.

The power supply I am considering is 45 V from five 9V cells in series,
with 1.5 volt D cell for filaments. The valve I am considering are
is the 1S5.

Anyone ever operated class E in glass?

Thanks in advance,

The Eternal Squire
