Default FT 480R fault - 147.000 MHz on TX

I've a FT 480R that has remained unused for at least two years.

Upon attempting to use it today on FM, it displays the TX frequency
as 147 MHz. (It is TXing at this freq as confirmed by external frequency
counter and dummy load.)

It is RXing quite normally on the simplex channels.

It goes to 147 MHz on TX irrespective of the mode - CW/SSB/FM and
irrespective of the RX frequency be it 144.300 or 145.500..

Oddly enough, it does obey the +/- 600 kHZ repeater shift instruction.

Any clues or experience of this problem?

goo-goo-goo gah-gah-gah dribble-dribble-dribble

There's a split freq switch on the front panel which was
pressed in!!!!!

I award myself the Old Mother-Hen Nugatory memorial award for
silliness.

To the group..... I've been having a problem this past week. I've gotten
messages cced to me, which appeared as though I sent them, and they were
sent to people I didn't know. MY computer is/was being hijacked. While "I"
did write the "Message", I didn't write the header. "I" apologize for the
below header. It happened in another news group I posted to, at the same
time as this message - with a message I posted to that group. I am going to
get this checked into. Again, my apologies for the ignorance of the header.
While I can apologize for this, I hope my info hasn't been compromised.
YUCK! Then I'll really have problems. Not sure HOW to cure this, but I got
to!

Lou

Surely any who claims that he is a _REAL_ Radio Ham would know this?

Any why are you operating commercially produced equipment anyway?

We all assumed you limited your equipment to purely home-made varieties
not Far Eastern imports? Surely a case of double-standards old boy,
especially now you've started to befriend a M3 too.

Yes. A Chippenham Breaker (mind) set.

So, you have another bit of NON-HOME BREW KIT in your shack.

Never mind, you will soon fettle it.

careful, you need an amateur radio licence to operate such a radio. Enquire
at your local amateur radio club or www.rsgb.org.uk for details of
foundation licence classes in your area.
