I need to replace the CR2016 in my Yeasu FT-5200. Seems ridiculous to
pay $10+ to Yeasu for a $2.00 battery. Has anyone had any luck finding a source that you can share with me for a low cost alternative? www.mouser.com. Part #639-CR2016-T, Sanyo CR2016 coin cell with tabs, $3.75 in onesies. I imagine Digi-Key has something like this as well. The non-tabbed versions are a fraction of the cost... I suspect the tabbed ones are rather a specialty item. Earlier this year I modded an Icom IC-228 which had one of these tabbed batteries, nearing the end of its useful lifetime. I pulled a coin-cell holder off of a defunct PC motherboard, stuck it down in a convenient area inside the radio with double-sided foam tape (I used the spot where a tone-squelch board would normally have gone), jumpered it over to the existing coin-cell attachment leads, installed an ordinary coin cell, and then clipped the tabs on the old battery and removed it. The memory never lost power, and I can now replace the battery again (in another 5-10 years) without having to desolder anything. -- Dave Platt AE6EO Hosting the Jade Warrior home page: http://www.radagast.org/jade-warrior I do _not_ wish to receive unsolicited commercial email, and I will boycott any company which has the gall to send me such ads! |
