part 15 data modules?
 

I need a low power data module that operates on vhf or uhf for short
range data transfer (less than 300 feet). I know there is a company
that makes the inexpensive transmit and receiver modules (that are
already type accepted). But, can't remember the name of the company.

Google is useless, too many hits that aren't what I need.

Any help appreciated.

I looked, and they are big, bulky and top of the line. I was hoping
for smaller and much cheaper low data rate modules tho.

I seem to remember the ones I saw before...they had simple saw ceramic
resonators and ran at 433 mhz and promissed 300 feet minimum range. It
was a single chip with a few components and was an AM transmitter. The
receiver was simarilly small and simple.

Got any more suggestions?

Try Radiometrix. They are approved for use in Europe and the USA.

Didn't QST publish an article within the last few months about very-
low-power fox-hunt transmitters using the module you are describing.

I found the answer, thanks to all that replied.

Linx makes chips and complete rx/tx modules as well as transceivers.
Prices are very reasonable.

There are a handful of such companies. A little while ago I needed
an rx/tx pair and went with some modules from OKW (www.okwelectronics.com,
natch).
