Baluns
I just finished looking at the new ARRL handbook's section on Baluns. I was
astonished at how little I understood. The "bazooka" balun described in the book looks like something that does nothing. Anyone know what I don't understand? Anyway, what's wrong with a simple transformer - primary attached to unbalanced coax line from transmitter, and (grounded) center tapped secondary attached to balanced dipole? In fact, do I really need a grounded center tap? Pete KB1LZH |
You might take a look at "Baluns: What They Do and How They Do It". It
was published in the ARRL Antenna Compendium, Vol. 1 and is now available as http://eznec.com/Amateur/Articles/Baluns.pdf.
