Qst Jan 1990 article

Does anyone have a copy of article in QST January 1990 titled

CRYSTAL TESTER FOR F, Q, AND R BY W1FB?

If so, could you scan it and email me a copy?

Thanks,

Tim AA6DQ

It's also in W1FB's Design Notebook on page 192.

Hello Richard,

Yes, I know that the article was printed in the appendix. However, I
have not been able to find a copy of W1FB's Design Notebook from a
reliable reseller at an affordable price -- it appears to be out of
print.

So, I am still looking for someone who can scan the article for me.

There are a couple of corrections that were made in the version printed
in the Design Notebook. Here are two that I found:

The value of R24 in Figure 1 was omitted in the original; it's listed as
a 56 ohm resistor in the notebook.

Also, a note that appeared as "Feedback" in the March 1990 QST added a
220 ohm resistor from the output of voltage regulator U2 (LM317) back to
the the "Adjust" pin and top of R1 (voltage adjust) in the power supply
circuit (Figure 3).

Tim -- if all else fails and you can't find the updated article I'll
mail you a copy via snail mail.

BTW, you can get the PC board from FAR Circuits....I've got the board
populated but the project is down in the queue to get finished...so many
projects, so little time!

Dino,
Thanks for the updates to the article. This all started because I was
cleaning out a stack of stuff and came across the board that I had
purchased years ago along with a box of crystals and a pcb for a
crystal ladder filter. The only thing missing was the article. Thanks
to Richard, I have a copy of the article.

The article is available in both the QST view cd set for 1990-1994,
and in the arrl periodicals cd for that year. In the former it's
a bunch of .TIFF files, in the latter it's in a .pdf file. If anyone
has either of these cd sets they could email it to you, you might want
to buy one of those cd's if there is anything else in the collections
you'd like to have.

BTW I can convert the .tiff files to a .pdf file, (using open office,
MS word can probably do it also) but I only own the
1914-1929 and 1930-1939 QST views at the moment. One of these days
I'm going to have to get some later ones (I bought the early ones
to do some radio history research).

The W1FB article is included as a help file in AADE's free filter design
software.
