Default Annc: New release of KE5FX GPIB Toolkit

Free to any/all interested parties:

http://www.speakeasy.org/~jmiles1/ke5fx/gpib/readme.htm

Some of this code has been around for quite awhile, but it's never been
properly packaged and documented until now. The new spectrum-
surveillance and phase-noise measurement utilities are VERY cool.
Enjoy!

Did you see the EDN article on a USB-based GPIB controller? The link was
incorrect, should be:
http://lsd.fe.uni-lj.si/gpib/

Interesting; looks very similar to the new Prologix board, which I
support fully. Both use a FTDI virtual RS-232 port chip and Atmel
controller, but the Prologix board has a lower chip count.

It will be good to have a few lower-cost options for USB-GPIB
connectivity out there... the National Instruments adapters are still
commanding silly prices.

In the Softwire forum there's some VB.NET code for GPIB --
(http://forums.softwire.com) -- written by one of the NATI folks. The
various MCC instruments which support USB can thus talk GPIB. (National
Instruments owns Measurement Computing which owns Softwire.)
