Irish Radio Transmitters Society Radio News Bulletin Sunday June 17th 2007 ______________________________________________ 2 Metre Spring Counties Contest Results The winner of the High Power portable section in the Spring Counties Contest was EI2SBC/P and the High Power Outside EI section went to MI0CLP/P. The Low Power Portable section was won by EI4HX/P. The High Power Fixed section was won by EI2JD and the outside EI category went to GI4SRQ. EI3ENB won the low power fixed section while the outside EI section of this category went to MI3IYA (Now 2I0BIW). The FM Only section was won by EI7GY/P. Thanks go to all stations who took part, and congratulations to all the award winners. The next contest to look forward to is the UHF/VHF field day on the first weekend of July. ______________________________________________ AFRI 75 DXpedition QSL Update The QSL Manager of the recent Swaziland DXpedition, Peter EI7CC, reports that over the past few weeks QSL cards in respect of over 1000 QSOs have been sent to those who requested a direct QSL. The remaining 200 or so requests should be dealt with in the coming week. QSLs for those EI stations who have not QSLed direct will be sent via the bureau. ______________________________________________ Hong Kong Special Prefix Approval has been granted for the use of the Special Prefix "VR10" in addition to "VR2" for Hong Kong Radio Amateurs starting from the 1st of July 2007 to the 30th of June 2008 for the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's reunification with China. More details are available in the OFTA letter for Hong Kong Radio Amateurs, which can be found at www.ofta.gov.hk/en/amateur/ama-cir200706.pdf. HARTS is also going to use the special callsign "VR10HK" as HARTS HQ Station especially during the IARU HF Contest (14-15/7/2007). For further information, please contact the Award and Contest Manager VR2XNG (Dawood Ng) through email at “excom2007 at harts dot org dot hk”. ______________________________________________ South Eastern Amateur Radio Group The date of the next theory revision class will take place this coming Tuesday the 19th of June at 7.30 p.m. in the Roanmore Centre, Waterford. The next general meeting will take place on Monday the 26th of June at 8.00 p.m. in the Roanmore Centre, Waterford. ______________________________________________ Comeragh Cycle Race The national under 23 road racing championship will take place in Waterford on the 1st of July. Richie EI9HR is event Co-ordinator and he is being assisted by John EI8JA. This year’s race will be on a greater scale with over 160 riders taking part. The Civil Defence have come on board this year to help with marshalling and RTE will be filming the event. AREN will provide the communications for safe traffic management and accident reporting. There will be more radio reporting points and mobile stations than last year so more radio operators are required. Again newcomers are welcome and training will be provided on the morning of the race. This is an excellent opportunity for operators to put their radio skills to good use in a very enjoyable and rewarding way for the benefit of the Community. Down. The Cork Radio Club Rally will take place on Sunday the 23rd of September in the Blarney Park Hotel, Blarney, Co. Cork, the Waterford Rally will take place on the 21st of October 2007 in the Woodlands Hotel, Waterford and the Mayo Radio Rally will be on Sunday the 18th of November in the Belmont Hotel, Knock, Co. Mayo.
