After 2006 and 2007 outbursts, predictions say that Orionids activity will be much higher than normal also in 2008. While the “traditional” peak is expected on october 21, another maximum, related to the encounter with an ancient dust trail, ejected in year -1265 and rich in bright meteors, is expected to occur on October 19, between 02.13 and 08.08 UT. Read more at our MS-Propagationpage ( http://www.mmmonvhf.de/ms.php ) where you can find data concerning upcoming meteor showers in October. *** ARRL EME Contest 2008 I part 50-1296 MHz JT/CW/SSB (18-19th October) Please spread your info at Matejs page: http://www.darkside.cz/eme.php 2008 ARRL International EME Competition Rules can be found he http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2008/eme.html SOURCE: Matej, OK1TEH *** 18 and 19th october - Araucária VHF Contest - A South American Contest and a good chance for Europeans to work SA! This should be especially useful for horizon-only stations, although any other elevation constraints (such as higher elevations for dishes) can also be specified. Some of the other annoying glitches in the old DOS program have been removed. The latest updated application and help files for Version 1.01 are now included in the zip file at: http://bigskyspaces.com/w7gj/GJTRACKER.zip SOURCE: Lance, W7GJ direct to MMMonVHF and via REFLECTOR ************************************************** *************** Latest DXPEDITION and EVENT NEWS - Please do use: http://www.mmmonvhf.de/latest.php and use the FILTER for your personal wishes! ************************************************** *************** Rolf, DK2ZF, is meantime active from CT3 (IM12JS) on 144 MHz EME between 10th of october until 22nd October 2008. JA8BMK, Toshi, is currently on Tarawa, Western Kiribati, T30, waiting for a ship to take him to Canton Island, Central Kiribati, T31. He started operation from Tarawa with the T30XX callsign yesterday. QSL via JA8BMK, direct only. He expects to be active until October tenth, all bands, CW and SSB. Toshi says he's noticed there are a lot of changes on Tarawa, no more direct flights to C2 or V7 and no more direct flights to T32, East Kiribati, from Fiji, 3D2. It is still difficult to get to T33 as well. He was lucky to find a government- chartered ship to T33, which will leave in mid-November, a long time to wait but it can't be helped. This is Toshi's third "attack" on T31 and, "it is a really hard and expensive business for solo expedition." And, no matter how you reach the island, there is no guarantee of a return within a couple of months. Toshi has an advantage that he's retired, so he does have the schedule flexibility, but he says he misses his dog, Jackie. He has a satellite telephone a long this time. Here is his current schedule: T30XX Tarawa October 5-10 confirmed T33ZZ Banaba October 12-22 confirmed T31DX Canton November 20-December 5, booked on the cargo ship SOURCE: (The Daily DX Vol. 12 No. 194) via 50 MHz DX News, by OZ6OM *** SOTA-News - Upcoming Activations updated at our MMMonVHF page as long these including VHF or U/SHF-Activity.
