Dave McElhatton
 

San Francisco broadcaster Dave McElhatton, born December 8, 1928, died
August 23, 2010.

When in high school, I listened to him broadcasting “Music 'Til Dawn”.

In the early '60s, I took a six-week cross-country trip on a
motorcycle. While on The Road, I'd call KCBS and Dave would put me on
the air – “Motorcycle Lew! Where Are You Now?” – during his morning
program to relate my adventures. On return, we did a fifteen-minute
interview in the Palace Hotel studio. Appreciative of the publicity,
the motorcycle manufacturer gave me a new top-of-the-line machine.
