Antennas, Feedlines, Towers & Rotors
/////////////////////////////////////////// I decided to go ahead and do it ..... Posted: 17 Jan 2018 01:54 AM PST https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...-do-it.595697/ My antenna plan, that is. Just for kicks and grins ........ and personal edumacation. I now have crossed 80m dipoles. Same support mast and about a foot apart. I am also planning on raising the support at least another 10 feet. Dipole 1(old one)- cut for around 3.9mhz. I do the math, cut the wire, use a tuner. Fed with 650-ohm homebrew LL. #2 - is basically a random piece of wire ( Hmmmm, That looks pretty long, Ill use it!) ended up around 4.2mhz, fed with 50ft. of 450-ohm LL to a 4:1... Posted: 17 Jan 2018 01:36 AM PST https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...-crazy.595673/ Gday all, I love Ham Radio and I love electronics as a hobby, but has anyone ever had a weird and/or intermittent radio system fault that seems impossible to solve? These kinds of faults always seem the weirdest and hardest to solve! My IC-718 has long had a strange 20 m no transmit fault that makes no real sense except that using a 4:1 hybrid balun (with balanced line) is generally successful. Using any other type of balun often causes the issue to appear! I have no idea why? It... Posted: 17 Jan 2018 12:00 AM PST https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...a-mast.595684/ Any thoughts on using a fence top rail as a mast? I saw these at the local Home Depot yesterday and thought they might make good masts for dipole antennas....maybe using two or three together to make a 30 foot mast. I have some 4x4 posts on my fence that I could attached these top rails to for bottom support. Here’s the link to the product: https://www.homedepot.com/p/YARDGAR....3DPT/100322532 Thanks Colin K7VIZ /////////////////////////////////////////// My final(?) attempt to improve Cobweb bandwidth Posted: 16 Jan 2018 02:54 AM PST https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?thr...dwidth.573588/ I described some modifications of the G3TXQ Cobweb in the other thread. I called them Mark 1 and Mark 2. I built Cobweb Mk.1 myself and Elias, EB5KT, built Cobweb Mk.2. Mark 2 was better because it had wider bandwidth on the 10 m band. However, bandwidth improvement came at a cost. The radiation patterns of the modified Cobwebs were closer to a bidirectional dipole-like pattern. Since that time, I modeled a number of other modified Cobwebs but until recently all my ideas did work very well.... My final(?) attempt to improve Cobweb bandwidth |
