It's true. Of course they have to be able to hear the transmitter from
more than one location to triangulate a location, but with both 14
fixed and an unknown number mobile assets finding something in the US
is not a difficult task once they start looking.

Of course any clandestine (i.e. illegal) transmitter will have to
somehow catch the attention of the FCC, either by the FCC monitoring
stations stumbling onto it or somebody bringing it to their attention.
Of course, the transmitter will need to be active for some period of
time to allow them to pinpoint the exact location.

So, if someone insists on being a pirate radio operator, they are
gambling that they won't get caught... Just like the nuts who think the
posted speed limits are only suggestions and that the lack of Highway
Patrol Officers means anything goes, sometimes get caught.

I for one don't want to loose my ticket. Despite what SC says, I
worked for that Extra...

and this means the FCC know about Todd and agrees he is most likely
with the rules

It may mean that they haven't noticed, or have yet to take action.

If one takes Todd's claims of being a pirate at face value, it's most
likely that they just haven't noticed yet.

They would need to "notice" the transmission in progress, but getting
complaints would very likely get him on the list of things to listen
for so you may be right... But, not hearing a knock on the door does
not mean the FCC is agreeing that the activity is legal.

Sorta like K1MAN's pending renewal application... Given enough time,
they will take care of it, if it doesn't go away on it's own....

The problem is though, The monitoring station is in chicago, which I'm
300 miles away from, and my signal can't be heard up there. Secondly
hearing it and it being legal is another issue. The station is located
on 13.556.00 MHz LSB and 6.950 MHZ AM and anyone that knows
propergation knows that those bands skip, even Part 15 on those bands
can skip very good.

Hello, Robert. Welcome to our little den of iniquity.

Expect little...Laugh a lot...take little seriously here and you'll
have fun.

Morkie's of the opinion that if someone files a complaint or
comment that the lack of immediate response means he's justified in
doing things illegally.

Same for Toiddie (Todd, N9OGL). Toiddie's worse, actually,
because he's actually admitted to or made reference to numerous
violations of federal law over the years, including illegally modifying
ultralight aircraft....The idea that there may be an aircraft over my
head that's being operated by a kiddie-porn anime freak give me the
willies.

Sorta like K1MAN's pending renewal application... Given enough time,
they will take care of it, if it doesn't go away on it's own....

They're getting much more robust in their efforts to shut down the
"broadcasters" as any perusal of FCC NOV's / NOUO files will reveal.
