I missed it the first time. It is in very *small* print between the bars at the start of the note. It is an announcement and will be effective when the FCC releases the whole text (whatever and whenever that is). Where the heck is Phil when we need his expertise at sorting this kind of stuff out :D I lost his e-mail address on my last system crash. Windoze is pretty good at that :( 73 from Rochester, NY Jim AA2QA |

Many of your arguments in favor of Morse Code were legitimate for the promotion of the mode, but not for the retention of a stand-alone Pass/Fail Exam which denies access to the MF/HF privileges to many. The FCC finally ruled on it, without all the usual fanfare, comment period, and at least on the sidelines, lots of argument and name calling. So, its time to go forth and multiply. The converts you get will do so for the love of the mode, not because the government made them do it to gain more voice priveleges. Best of Luck. 73 de Brian/N0iMD |

So the VE's job is history, or will he be relegated (to) valet parking? VE's will now be testing applicants for their ability to program their cell phone interface to the car communication system, in order to assure proper data transfer between amprnet and arpanet using AX.25B protocols in a TCP/IP environment. Element 1 hasn't been retired, it has been revised: it will now consist of a test to identify buzzwords with 70% accuracy.
