My Comments On RM-10740, the "Wi-Fi" Petition

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Commission, Greetings,

While I appreciate the concerns of the persons who approach you
on this occassion and request an FCC-determined bandwidth limitation
for Amateur Radio HF applications, I must object to the concept and
principle.

Although there have been some persons who have used inordinately
wide modulation techniques in order to be intentionally disruptive, I
believe the Commission should act to punish those who do so...NOT to
limit the opportunity of legitimate experimenters and afficionados of
various modulation techniques.

This mode of "wide fidelity" for SSB techniques should, in my
opinion, be subject to the same cooperative band planning (so-called
"Gentleman's Agreements") that the Commission recognizes and
encourages for any other modulation or emission type except where
overwhelming band constraints exist (ie: the already narrow "WARC"
bands and the new 60 meter channels)

Thank-you for this opportunity to participate in the democratic
process of our Government.

I certainly hope that you didn't caption your response using the term "Wi-Fi"
for that may get sent over to the COMPUTER NETWORKING specialist - after all,
that acronym applies to 802.11b transmissions, not this "wide-band-SSB" crap.

Oooops.

And remember...one man's "crap" is another man's fortune.
