Was that "Lucky 7" from out of Syracuse? I remember a local news report on
my Milwaukee TV station about it. The operator would appear on the screen wearing a gas mask. -John L. "Robert Casey" wrote in message ... Many pirates are radio amateurs - they have the knowledge and skill to put together a station. :-) We did that back in college back in the 1970's. One of us bought a homebrew transmitter, did some repairs to clean it up some, threw together some turntables and a crude mixer board, used a mic from a cassette recorder, and went on the air Friday night. We knew that the nearest FCC office was about 150 miles away, and was closed for the weekend. We played records mostly. Some jocks from a local licensed station found us, and did a few shifts of our air time! (Guess they wanted the opportunity to play their own selections instead of a mandated playlist). I commented on our crude equipment, and they said that they had seen worse at licensed stations. We shut down Sunday night and dismantled the setup. Later on someone else at our college did a pirate TV station! That made the New York Times! This was when the VCR was first comming out on the market. It was said that someone built that transmitter out of an old guitar amp. Sounds ludercutis, but if it was a tube amp, could actually be done. Use the VCR's channel modulator as the exciter, and that feeds the "guitar" amp. |

The monitoring stations were dismantled only seven years ago. Perhaps if you set an example of "civil debate", others would follow. But I doubt you would do that. I didn't "demand" anything, Lennie. Yes, you do. Where? You have a long history of it, even on the public record of four years ago at the FCC. You mean where Steve asked the FCC to disregard your reply comments to the FCC. That's what reply comments are for, Len - people either supporting or opposing the comments of others. You spent over a dozen pages of YOUR reply comments telling FCC to ignore and disregard the comments of one Michael P. Deignan. So you have to accept others telling FCC to disregard your reply comments. Otherwise you're a hypocrite. I point out that you make it a point of harrassing others about it, yet indulge yourself in the most childish and pathetic of efforts to see who can out-insult the other. Actually you yourself meet "childish and pathetic of efforts" and cannot stop trying to insult me in posts clearly not including you. He's just following your example, Len. Perhaps if you set an example of "adult and reasoned civil debate", others would follow. But I doubt you would do that. You insist on referring to yourself as a "professional", but you have yet to prove yourself "professional" in ANY discipline. Several corporations, the US government, three state governments all disagree with you. :-) Getting paid and being a professional are not the same thing. You REALLY need some mental therapy on being able to get along with anyone else. Uh huh. Coming from you, I rate this about 136 on a scale of 1 to 10 on important things to do. Psychotics will never admit they are crazy. shrug Let's remember that phrase, shall we? Uh huh...(Geeze this idiot makes this easy...) Just like YOU tried to hide behind "Avery Fine" and "Avery Fineman" until your ego got the better of you one day and you signed your name to a post that you had specifically denied BEING you. The AOL screen name of "Avery Fineman" is still registered to me. Yeah, we KNOW. I have, currently, six other screen names at AOL (including this one) but "Avery Fine" was NOT one of them. Never. "Avery Fine" was NEVER one of your screen names, you say? That's simply not true. You posted with that screen name here a few years back. Of course you will never admit that you did so, regardless of the evidence presented. Yes, I've used the screen name of "Avery Fineman" in here and also identified myself at the end of the post. Sometimes you have identified yourself in posts. Other times you have not. Let's see - you have used the AOL screen names "nocwtest", "lenof21", "averyfine", "averyfineman" and "lenover21" in this newsgroup. That's five. You admit to having seven. For all anyone knows, you could be "vshah101" and a host of others..... But you are not me. ;-) In fact, for all anyone knows, "nocwtest" and "averyfine" could still be registered to you. Apparently some in here are terribly uptight and can see no humor in the pseudonym of "a very fine man" that lacks two spaces. :-) I used that pseudonym first about 1992 on a Bulletin Board System as Co-Sysop. "Len Over 21" came from the pseudonym used on the BBS US Pompeii a year later (run and sysoped by Stan and Zippy Manus in the Hollywood Hills). It is word play based on the BBS software...takes too long to explain to anal-retentive control freaks. :-) Why should anyone care? The important question is "why does Len need so many different screen names from the same ISP in order to post to a few newsgroups"? Perhaps touching your tongue to that B battery fried some neurons....;-) I can't "prove" who "Avery Fine" is...but both you and Reverend Jim are prolific posters from AOL. Coincidence? :-) It can be proven that "Avery Fine" used to be YOU, even though you have denied it. Perhaps "Avery Fine" still is you, Len. And YOU are the most prolific and wordy poster to rrap - AOL or not. Coincidence? ;-) ;-) Hmmmm...Len uses terms like "psychotic" and "copycat killer syndrome" to describe other posters, and claims to know the motivations of others he has never met. ;-) "Psychotics will never admit they are crazy." Ayup - you oughta know, Len ;-) ;-) ;-) Toodles fer now, Len. The bands are alive with the sound of Morse and there's much to do here before the snow flies. N2EY (so you know who I am) |
