I just returned from the NOAA web site and under, "What's New"
SEC Events and Announcements," found nothing about this news.

Anyone else have the scoop?

Out of curiosity, I linked over to NOAA's website and searched.

Nada, nothing, nyet on that "news" in public view.

Lots and lots of fascinating information on the MANY things going
on at NOAA and its departments. The Commerce Department's
Radio Office doesn't have anything either, nor the NGDC.

Must be one of those "secret" places that only dittyboppers know
about...and go into paranoic fits about...

Ionosonde terminals have been fielded for half a century now and
the ionospheric characteristics have been known about and
studied for far longer. HF radio communications has been steadily
decreasing for decades, is principally used as a backup for all
other communications means such as secure digital fiber (DSN)
and communications satellite relay. Over a thousand SHARES
HF radio stations exist for government agencies and they are
converting to ALE (Automatic Link Establishment) which can
automatically go to "better frequencies" if the circuit becomes less
than good.

About the only thing I can see for HF ionospheric propagation data
is the constantly monitored "solar index" applied to standard
formulas for predicting MUF. NOAA observes the "solar index" and
many other things.

observatories around the globe, polarimeter stations, and
rocketsondes.

If you say so...The only time I "cooked" in the line of duty in
the USMC was heating C-Rats while in boot and on the trail.

And your having been a weather guesser in the USAF in no way
changes the facts vis-a-vis your earlier comments...The "facts" you
cited were all things being done in the Armed Forces for decades
before your signed on the line.

You comments were a lie. I have read no 1950's era "This is the Air
Force" book, Stebe, nor have I received via Len and back channel news.
