How'd you like us to cancel that little NATO agreement, and let the
BEARS or POLES place your ungrateful socialist-leaning ass under their
rule?

Then, those pansy-assed French will start waving the white flags.

Faggots.

If put to a vote today, I think many Europeans would be thrilled to end
NATO. Of course, since it benefits us (the USA), this country would strongly
resist that. In other words, what you say is nothing more than a shallow
threat (and the Europeans know it).

You need to study up on national defense, Brian. NATO, even today, is
critical to our strategic defense in that region of the world. Likewise,
bases in Europe play an important role in many lesser conflicts overseas
(refueling, supply, protection for ships passing through that area, area
commands, and so on). Europe could defend itself today. We benefit that
defense just as they benefit our defense. Therefore, we need those bases in
Europe just about as much as they need us.

Hi all,

Referring to the famous Baghdad dinner:

But in the next breath Rivera added, "They were even more impressed
with their turkey dinner."

Yes - and everybody knows that the turkey was a fake.

So was the bird on the plate.

ENJOY!

They always put out a relatively real looking turkey - it makes the
turkey loaf cubes slightly more palatable.

True, I haven't been an instrument of national policy since December
31, 1996. Things have probably changed a lot.

NATO, even today, is
critical to our strategic defense in that region of the world. Likewise,
bases in Europe play an important role in many lesser conflicts overseas
(refueling, supply, protection for ships passing through that area, area
commands, and so on). Europe could defend itself today. We benefit that

Dwight, things haven't changed -that- much. You've somehow rolled
national defense and NATO into the United Nations. It just isn't so.

I did? I don't remember saying a single word about the United Nations. You
were talking about NATO ("I never knew that NATO benefited the USA," you
said). I responded to that. Our military relations with Europe is important
and NATO is a major part of that.
