Attention Earthlink users: Earthlink invests another US$3.5M in BPL

On top of a $500,000 investment, Earthlink has just invested another
$3.5 million. You folks who are Earthlink subscribers are helping to
pay for the BPL investment.

(See http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/41140)

So why don't you put some action behind your anti-BPL rhetoric and
walk away from Earthlink? Any ham who opposes BPL while s/he continues
to use Earthlink as an ISP has to be viewed as a very large hypocrite.

The idea of a boycott is not a bad one.. but there is the unfortunate
circumstance that in a large number of small and medium sized communities,
EarthStink is the only game in town..

So, write them a nasty letter telling them where you stand...and where they
should stand.

Agreed.. I've already dropped my EarthStink stateside account anyway.. for
other reasons. This only helps me retain my decision to never use them
again.

Earthstink is being bought out as we speak.

Seems that I'm that small fish in that food chain diagram. My ISP,
netcom (one of the earliest subscription flat rate ISP's on the 'net)
got swallowed by Mindspring, then that swallowed by Earthlink.

Even with support for bpl, it's still a step above aol.... ;-)

A string and a tin-can is a small step below AOL.

Maybe.
