One more opinion of mine

To all:

My opinion is that .015%, or less (and probably much less) of the USA
population are licensed amateurs, that is a crime!

That isn't a "hobby group", that is an insignificant number! Those who are
responsible for this need to be set aside, immediately, I believe any sane
man will find that proof without question... that number deserves to
either gain sufficient members to be able to ask for gov't
consideration and regulation--or go the way of the dodo--and die with
dignity!

Why is it a crime in your mind?

That isn't a "hobby group", that is an insignificant number!

I'd bet many other hobby pursuits have even lower
numbers. The reality of hobby interests within the
general population is that the great majority of people have
no hobby at all. Just ask any of your friends what,
if any, hobby or hobbies they may have. Some may say they
follow this sport or that, but they are only fans...not
participants.

The numbers are higher now (within 10,000 or so) than they were
25 years ago.

Bill:

It is an old crime, crossing ancient into prehistoric!

"A decade" = old
"Two decades" = ancient
"Three decades+" = prehistoric!

Oh?

I hang glide. I can attest that the number of qualified hang
glider pilots is less than a fifth of the numbers of licensed
Amateurs...active pilots less than that....And NO licensure, let alone
Morse Code test is required!

K4YZ:

Absolutely, no CW is required and people can hang-glide just fine, and so
it is with amateur radio... we agree.

The analogy does not take into account that the Amateur Radio hobby occupies a
significantly valuable public resource to the exclusion of other potential
beneficial uses. If/when the public (through its appointed regulators) no
longer sees value in our occupancy, we will be toast.
