A Most Humbling Experience
For the last eight days I've been involved in mobile intensive
care transports of critical patients from Southern Mississippi and Southeastern Louisiana. I was on four ground transports and four air transports. For those who have been watching the news on CNN and Fox News, all I can say is that the most horrific and heartbreaking scenes have yet to be aired, and in all likelyhood never will be...I just don't think the American public could withstand it. As an ER Nurse I've seen tragedy and dispair on an almost daily basis, but at the end of the day, it's been easy to put behind me as soon as I get out of the parking lot. I can get a sausage and bisquit at the corner store, enjoy a pint of milk, and know that when I get home the lights are on and the fridge is full. Not so in LA or MS. I was on the ground in Slidell, LA, for 45 minutes on Saturday. I don't believe that even if I possessed the skills of a poet laureat that I could put into words the devastation. I never served with the Marines in Viet Nam, but have always heard about the "1000 yeard stare"...Well, now I've seen it...In the eyes of hundreds of those brutalized by this horrific event. That having been said, those who have been casting about that I am "MIA" or otherwise "strangely absent" from the NG only reinforce, in my mind anyway, just how infantile, meaningless and puny they really are. In light of the last few days, the punks who make up the Feeble Five have just ceased to have any substance for me. They are just too petty. Steve, K4YZ |

He's keyed to anything emotional, seems to live for that. The -real- reason he was gone was probably because he went camping with his mommy and daddy during the Memorial Day weekend. According to Dudly (whoever he really is), his father passed away some years ago of a heart attack. Posted in here very emotionally and upset. Dudly has never mentioned his mother that I can recall. Then look how he jumps right back into flame wars with the same people. What a hypocrite. Dudly USES the "emotional ploy" thing as misdirection so that he can do the flamethrower thing at others. CAP is supporting them with ground and air services. It's a week later and you can still see the terror in some of these kids eyes...It started to cloud over for a bit and some kids started crying "The rain's coming again, Mommy...the rain's coming!" I can't imagine living life afraid of a summer rain on the porch roof, can you? I certainly can but then I haave lived with the threat of torndos much of my life, and seen them first hand, as well as the Hurricane that conviced me I never realy wanted to live on the gulf coast I get back to my "regular" job tomorrow. I've read in another forum where the DoD is sending in the equivilent of a light carrier battle group to assist. With the waters receeding in NO, I wouldn't want to be in thier shoes for a dozen winning lottery tickets. 73 Steve, K4YZ |

CAP is supporting them with ground and air services. It's a week later and you can still see the terror in some of these kids eyes...It started to cloud over for a bit and some kids started crying "The rain's coming again, Mommy...the rain's coming!" I can't imagine living life afraid of a summer rain on the porch roof, can you? I certainly can but then I haave lived with the threat of torndos much of my life, and seen them first hand, as well as the Hurricane that conviced me I never realy wanted to live on the gulf coast I lived with the same "threat", having also grown up in the midwest. meaning of course you were or amditing to a lack of imagination in writng "I can't imagine living life afraid of a summer rain on the porch roof, can you?"
