The proponents of rec.radio.amateur.policy.moderated are looking for a
moderator/moderators for the proposed group. The most likely style of
moderation will be robomoderation to limit cross-posts with minimal
consideration of content, similar to the model of talk.origins.
However, this is not yet definitely decided, so we are also interested
in hearing from people willing to be part of a moderation team for
whitelist-style moderation.

I think you need to get the moderation policy in place before you ask
for volunteers.

The question of what order to do things in has been one of the most
difficult aspects of the process. We want to know who is available to
moderate before we decide on a moderation policy but we want to know
the policy so we can attract volulnteers who are compatible with it.
We are having a similar difficulty figuring out when we have given
enough information about charter and policies to run a poll, when the
poll results may change the charter and policies.

What criteria are you going to use to determine that hand moderation is
necessary? Without a white list, one morphing bot attack could bring
the group to its knees until you can get it shut off.

Are you going to require regular reports of how many articles were
rejected, and for what reasons? Is the moderator going to publish a
list of the subjects and authors of rejected articles? Are the white
lists and black lists going to be published?

How is the moderator supposed to handle flame wars and personal attacks?

How off-topic do you want the threads to run? What about the "Boys are
icky/Girls are icky" threads that Heyerdahl and her fanboys seem to get
endless pleasure out of?

These are great questions, Larry.

Until there is a clear moderation policy, a volunteer would be buying a
pig in a poke.

But because the moderators will be the ones implementing the policy, I
like the idea of developing the policy with the moderators involvement.
A person could volunteer and if it became clear that his vision for
the group was incompatible with the proponents' and they could not
develop a policy together, the volunteer would be under no obligation
to stay. Is it something you would consider, Larry?

I thin kyou are mesed up on this. I wanto take back my ofer to modurate.
