Just out of curiosity... Is the stereo decoder tube-based, or does it use a
chip?

A better question would be are there any tubes in it at all beyond a
couple of token tubes, and an "eye" tube?

There's no indication of the total number of tubes, and given the limited
number of tube types listed, there seems to be too few for a AM radio, let
alone stereo FM. Perhaps just the audio stages are tubes, as they would have
the biggest effect on the sound.

The last time I saw a bar-type "magic eye" was on a tube Westinghouse tape
deck of 45 years ago.

Did you see the price? $549.00 - YIKES! I could think of a lot of "not
new" radios I'd rather have - in total - for $549.00

Rick
