Posting this just to keep the embers alive in this NG. Plus, I love this
little old receiver!

Unfortunately, the FM doesn't work, but this has only caused me to listen to
AM for a while now, and it's revived my respect for that almost-forgotten
medium.

Nice machine... I'm sure you'll get the FM going eventually... but the
person that invented those @&%&@## FM tuner modules should be drawn,
quartered, and burned at the stake..

No, really, I have no clue as to where to start. There is no signal, the
tuning dial doesn't deflect at all as I go across the scalle, and there is
no background FM hiss.

I mean, could it be as simple as a bad tube? I cleaned all the switches
with Deoxit, that quieted them down, but didn't help the FM.

That oscillator/mixer tube is very very critical in that module.. if it's
the tiniest bit weak, the LO will fail to oscillate. As an experiment,
choose a strong station in your area, then connect a decent wire antenna to
one of the antenna connections, and a signal generator to the other. Tune
the dial to the spot where the station should be, then tune your signal
generator to ~10.7 MHz higher than the station frequency... if you hear
anything, then that gives you that tube as a starting point.
