Then you read the English translation of the lyrics (my German is poor) and it's even more disturbing to admit you enjoyed the melody! It truly was a Nazi anthum. Wessel was also, unfortunately, credited for the melody, though some historians dispute this, saying it was a much older folk song. Joe |
