NEW SCANNER SITE
 

Hello,
I been working on a new scanner website for West Central Illinois. Here is a
brand new scanner forum that I have setup that will be on the new website
when I get it done. Please register and help this Scanner forums grow.

He does have administrator access to PHPBB itself, but the popups are
either in the html or part of the template, which he cannot edit (no
ftp access)

The pop-ups are just a way for the host to make money, the users cannot
remove them....

Anyway, anybody with a bit of common sense would just install a pop-up
blocker and leave it at that..

Im using google pop-up blocker and I didn't even see any until you
mentioned it...

- I know, I run one - and I've edited it extensively.

Again, He cant remove the ads... I also run many PhpBB and PhpBB2
boards, and I know that from within phpbb admin, you can set up the
forum, change the permissions, change catagories, mod and admin access
but there is nowhere where you can edit the HTML on which the forum is
displayed..

The Ads are part of the phpBB styles, which you have the "upload" by
ftp and then "install" in phpbb admin in order to change....

He cannot do this as it is a FREE FORUM HOST... the only access he has
is phpbb admin.. NOTHING ELSE..

Your wrong, just admit it and go on with ur life...

NOTE: If he was hosting his own forum using phpbb and mysql databases
then YES he could change anything he wanted, he could upload any new
styles, or edit the templates himself, but as he doesnt have access to
the webspace itself, then he only has limited access to what he can do

Or just learn enough PHP to rewrite the files, then upload them. It's
not even as difficult as what I do every day for a living - PHP is a
pretty simple language. Next you'll tell me that programs written in
C++, or Jovial, or ATLAS can't be changed.

being given access to someone else's BB. If he can upload the phpBB

GoDaddy hosts my phpBB (that means that it runs on their computers -
they have nothing to do with the PHP code I upload to the site) and I
rewrite it any time I want to rewrite it, so don't tell someone who's
done it that it can't be done. Learn what "hosting", "uploading" and
"programming" mean.

This is Correct I can not edit out any pop ups this is a free phpbb forum.
The popup blocker blocks most of mine out. Here is the rest of the website
