Maybe those folks were not aware of the scam
George pulled maybe 3 to 4 years ago involving GPS units I think it was. . . Guess he got a "visit" from a fellow named Curtis who roughed ol' George up a bit. George tried to blame all the shipping 'confusion' on his 'wife' whom Curtis got George to admit didn't exist. Sure wish I had all those emails today! Curtis described George as a 'runt', as I recall. Oh I remember the discussion threads we had; and I saved all the messages. Curtis was a big ol boy, and he said George is a tiny guy. According to Curtis, when George opened the door and saw Curtis standing there demanding his money back, George started shaking uncontrollably. I think he cried. Then there was the time Fetter advertized the non-existent BC-780s or 785s when they first came out and you couldn't get a hold of one. Fetter claimed he had bought out a radio store that was going out of business, and had acquired dozens of them. He offered them for sale under the name George Williams (William is his middle name). Of course he never delivered. I thought Curtis actually had sent the money for one of the scanners. If only I had gotten to talk to Judge William A Parsons at the Volusia County Circuit Court before he accepted Fetter's plea bargain. Oh well, there is always next time. AL STERN Satellite Beach FL |

AL STERN Satellite Beach FL I remember when this stuff happened. I was thinking about buying a 785 from him and I think you Al said something and I didn't do it., I just watch and listened. There was something about an antenna on his house also, wasn't there? Burr |

I got the emails from a fellow whom I believe sent some money for a GPS unit (I think this particular scam originated in some airplane pilot group, I'd have to look) and 'Curtis' was a friend of his or the friend of another fellow. But anyway, as I recall, 'Curtis' drove 750 miles or so and got ol' George to write a check (which I think was around $700 or so), and was told that if it didn't cash, he, 'Curtis', would be back. I do remember the guy telling me that 'Curtis' roughed George up a bit. George doesn't want a return visit from 'Curtis'.
