General enquiry about Aerials and Earthing
 

Hi Everyone,
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions, and put forward suggestions
and gave advice regarding an iCom IR PCR 2500. I have now bought one, and so
far so good. I am waiting to get an outdoor ant sorted out, there seems to
be such a range, not only in freq's covererd, but also in prices... I am
wondering about the possibility of running a long wire, anyone got any ideas
or suggestions for me? Maybe a site that outlines how to best do it?
One other thing that I am not sure about is that there is a connection on
the back of my receiver for an "Earth" connection. How important is it? is
it in case my Ant. gets hit by lightning? and as a solution could I run a
cable from the back of the receiver to the chassis of my PC, would this do?
