NOAA radio didn't receive the weekly test signal?
 

It received it two times in the past but this past wednesday it was
silent for the whole weekly test time frame.

I checked NOAA and no significant weather was ongoing to prevent such
a test from being done.

Should I be concerned or does this happen now and then [that is, does
NOAA sometimes forget/fail to send out the weekly test?]

What type of weather radio do you have? There have been recalls on a few
that fail to alert as they are supposed to...

It could also be an issue with signal strength. The signal in my area is
not very strong, and sometimes I don't get the weekly alert either. Depends
on weather conditions, humidity, etc. Somedays the signal comes in good,
other days you can't hear it.

Mine isn't on that list of recalls. Mine is 12-259 radio shack SAME
weather radio.

If neither got the signal, it may be possible that they never sent it. I've
never really paid much attention to if it goes off or not. Mine is spotty
at best, but that is what I am stuck with, as there technically in "no
coverage" where I am.

Typically a miss of the Wednesday test trigger is due to a marginal
signal strength at the receiver and can be improved by attaching the
weather radio to a better antenna.

In my case putting an old TV set whip antenna in the attic and running
coax back to the weather radio fixed the problem.

We have had some problems here in Seminole County Florida with the
transmitter going off air from time to time. My RS 12-262 gives an alarm
and I have to rescan to another tower frequently. I tried to contact
NOAA months ago but my e-mail was rejected. Does anyone know who at NOAA
to contact at a national level?

You should be able to call like the 800-555-1212, 411, or look it up online.
The centers do have phone numbers. I have two "active" numbers for the local
office. How else would you get in touch to report as "Skywarn" observers and
so on? They depend on those reports. Maybe they changed their e-mail addy.
You shouldn't have to go to the "National" level to try to find an answer to
the local level. Give it another shot.

every Wednesday between 11AM and Noon for the Daytona Beach, Orlando,
Melbourne and Ft. Pierce stations. In the event of bad weather on the
test day, the test will be postponed. We also test between 6PM and 8PM
on Wednesday evenings.
