bearcat bc - 145 - xl adding an s meter

i would like to add an s meter to this scanner .

the main chip is a UC - 1116 and the audio chip is a TBA - 820-M .

i have the service manual .

It would be easier and more cost effective to just buy a new scanner that already has this feature.
