New Program

Evening,
I wrote a new program for the Inland Empire east of LA
using the Winscan 2.10. I have all the Railroads, CHiPs and
local fire, some of the PD's that are not "trunked" and most
of the aircraft freq.'s plus the "High Desert" freg's so I
can listen on my way to and from home.

I'm happy with the way it is working right now and as I
find more freq.'s I'll add them. I picked up most of the
major stuff as I came from Kern County to this area.

I used my Magnet Mount on my pickup and am using the
"rubber ducky" in my travel trailer right now. I'll bring a
Scantanna down with me next week and things should work a
lot better.

I also have a AN-1 Sony for my YB400 that I use down
here. I have everything running off the 12v battery to cut
down on noise.

So did you write a new program or did you just make winscam frequency
file?

Well, guess I just wrote a Winscan frequency file and am
running it both as stan alone in the BC 245 and with my PC
Laptop as a monitor of what's happening.
Are you the person that loves Winscan so mush, got it all
figured out and running it everyday. It sure is a nice
program and it runs real well, I just love running it!!

I cant stand winscan. No support from the company and it uses almost
100% of your cpu. Best I found so far for the 245 is bc245int, and its
free.

Something is a little wrong here. I am running five programs
right now and they are all running very fast and I have no
crashes. Also I have had email support from Winscan and I
also could have called if needed, I sent you their phone
number last year so what you say most of the time is a lot
of bull from someone who can't manage a program on an old
computer that is setup wrong or is just so messed up it
won't run!

Maybe you should think and about a new computer (386 went out
years ago) and then learn how to use this an other programs.

Maybe you could also learn how to type your email address so
people can write or reply to you.

LOL I and everyone that has tried winscam knows your full of it. I never
said that it crashes I just said it uses almost 100% of your cpu.

You could have but you would have never heard back from them.

You did no such thing

My Athlon XP Barton 3000 with 2 gig of ram is far from a 386. Its not
like winscam is hard to use. Hell you must have figured it out so it has
to be easy.

Maybe you could also learn how to type your email address so
people can write or reply to you.

I dont care to have morons like you sending me email.

Anyway, what the hell is your problem? Do you really care if I and most
people dont like a program that you use? Or is it the fact that you said
you wrote a new program when in fact you just made a frequency file(big
deal people do it every day). I love a good flame war so I'll keep on
going if you want.

I agree Burr. I've had nothing but good luck with Winscan. I don't think I
have ever had it crash and as far as processor usage, right now I've got
Outlook Express and Winscan open and I'm only using 28% of my CPU. I have
to say that I think it also really adds to the enjoyment of scanning.

Dwayne,
Why don't you just say "I don't like Winscan" and let it go
at that!! Why bad mouth someone's stuff just because you are
having bad luck with it.
Some people like it and some don't.

Yes, I did send you their new number where they moved last
year and they posted right here on this news group about
their programs.

Now lets let it rest, maybe we'll both re-think our words.

Burr your the one that started bashing me here. All I said is that I
don't like it and you start calling me stupid and saying I got a junk
computer. You NEVER sent me the number because I just started using this
name about a month or so ago so you don't even know who I am. Oh one
more thing. After going through all your old post about winscan, did it
really take you 16 hours to learn how to use it? If it did I feel sorry
for you because winscan is one of the most simplist programs to use. I

That phone number from last year is no longer working!! and this is right
off there web-site:

"Technical support is currently available through E-Mail based support
only. (Retail and Shareware Versions)"

They do not have a phone number or street address listed anywhere on there
web-site... That alone should send up 50 red flags... but to each his own
if it works for you and you like it keep on trucking. It did not run on
anything we installed it on.

Really?? Only 28% of your CPU?? Huuummm
http://webpages.charter.net/moment/1winscan780.htm
Even they, i.e. Pozilla state it has a problem using all your CPU and they
are trying to bring it down to 40% or 50% but it will not do real time
moniting and not use 100% of your CPU at this time, that is if you can get
it to run at all.

I keep replying and it keeps not posting it.

I really do run that. I was trying to attach a image showing my CPU usage
at a nice 32% but I think that's why it wasn't posting. However... I think
that you are talking about Winscan 780 and Burr and I are talking about 2.1.
I don't know what Dwayne is talking about.

Chris,
I don't know what to say. I run all the programs I want at
the sametime with Winscan and I run fast and I don't have
problems.
I never heard you say anything about loading up your computer
so I don't know why these other people are having problems.

I don't get it either Burr. I wish I could say what the problem is. I
searched google and altavista and can't say that I saw anything about a CPU
problem. I did however read the Strong Signals review of v1.1 and they seem
to like it. I can also show that I don't have that problem

http://www.soundisgood.com/scanner/winscanimage.htm

Maybe Dwayne is having some sort of problem with his supercomputer.

By the way... Thanks for the tip about the posting Dwayne.

Chris.

Here are some links to screenshots I took of other programs running. As
you can see they use up way less cpu then Winscan does. The first one is
what Winscan used to be before Pozilla got a hold of it.

Works really well for what it is.
