Subject: CB on Pro-94
From: "Josh" Date: 8/21/03 2:30 AM Mountain Daylight Time Message-id: Hi, Hope this doesn't become flamebait, but I'm wondering if I am able to pick up CB frequencies on my Pro-94 scanner. I frequently make long trips and think listening to truckers and such may relieve some of the tedium... The PRO-94 will not receive the CB frequencies. Most of the high end scanners like the PRO 2006, Icom R10, and the Uniden Beartracker models will receive the CB band. The only scanner I've ever owned which has decent sensitivity on the CB band is the Relm HS200. That scanner has been out of production for several years now, but you might be able to find a used one on eBay or elsewhere on the net. 73, David |

I enjoy listening to CB on a RELM HS 200. However
using a CB walkie talkie or mobile CB rig and a real CB antenna will get two (2) mile reception. The RELM even with a CB antenna won=92t receive much more. The ICOM IC R-2 , R-5 and Uniden BC 250D wi= ll receive CB also Theses scanners allow tuning out of band =93free bander=94 CBers. With a CB antenna the scanner receiver=92s range will go from several hundred feet (on a rubber ducky stock antenna) to =BE of a m= ile to several miles when using a real CB antenna!. Try this site for information - reviews of radio gear
http://www.strongsignals.net/index.cgi Radio Shack's site has on line manuals for most of there radios. It helps to down load a manual to read over BEFORE plopping down several hundred dollars for electronic gear, to see if your happy with the piece of equipment and if it will meat your needs. You may want to install a CB transceiver/antenna in your vehicle. CB's give better range and a dedicated transceiver will allow you to copy all the important stuff on the truckers channel CH 19 while you listen to a separate radio scanner. Or just us the PRIORITY fe= ature on the scanner, by entering CB Ch 19, 27.185 Mhz AM mobe, Jim Jim Mac Donald wrote: I enjoy listening to CB on a RELM HS 200.
