Ok guys just downloaded software again and still no luck
when in clone mode the radio displays ok but when i try to read all data i
get this error msg

"A communication error occurred:1"


Any idea guys this is driving me nuts

the cable is one i used on my icom r2

I havent been following this thread but do you have the comm port set
right? Are you using a Serial-USB adapter? It could also be the cable
you are using is the wrong one.

Com port is set to 1#
serial adapter - jack plug
i have been told that the icom lead i have will work earleir in this thread
still not 100% sure my self

So you are using an adapter? Or does it go strait from your radio to the
serial port?

Hi Dwane

The cable i would like to use/convert is the Icom OPC-478 Cloning Cable it
has a stereo jack on one end and the oppisite end goes to comm port 1 on the
pc

Still getting the same message "A communication error occurred 1" then i
press ok then get next message "cannot find dj-x3"

But scanner screen still says OK

Not familiar with the Alinco radio, but does it require a stereo, or a
mono, plug on the cable.

Radio Shack PRO92, 93, 95 scanners require mono, and will work with a
stereo/mono adapter on the end of a cable which has a stereo plug. Such
adapters are available at Radio Shack, and other such suppliers.

Incidently, the plug is on the cable, the jack is on the radio. Plugs
are male, jacks are female :-).
