PRO-2045 loosing memory

I recenlty got a PRO-2045. Its working great and has been doing very
well for MilAir.

However it was turned off for about 48 hours, when I turned it back all
the channels were reset back to Zero. Anyone know if there is an
internal battery for memory?

From the manual, page 7, I found the note below.

If a power failure occurs or if the power
cord is disconnected, the scanner's
memory backup circuit keeps information
in memory for up to 3 days.

Note: The memory backup circuit begins
to protect memory within a few
minutes after you plug in the scanner.

The behavior described implies that a capacitor is used to backup memory,
not a battery. If you keep the radio plugged into a live AC outlet it should
retain memory when the radio is turned off.

However I never disconnected the AC, it was plugged in the entire
time.... Thanks for the info.

The parts list shows a 0.47 Farad 5.5 volt supercap and that is almost
certainly for memory backup. It might need to be replaced or the circuit
that charges it up could be bad. You'll probably need a service manual to
get into it much deeper.

no it's capacitor dischage circuit.

follow the reset routine for the radio, the processor might be having
trouble with all the flat outs.

also it is worth checking the radio on a 12vdc supply or battery.

does it do the same??

if not maybe the internal PSU is low on volts not allowing the cap to charge
though i think it's a 5volt system??

I had the A/C plug short mine out once and lost memory. This happened when
the radio was moved and the cord stretched slightly.
