bct7 uniden does not show frequency
 

Is there anyone out ther familiar with the uniden bct-7 beartracker? I
have one and the frequency part of the display shows nothing(out of
warranty) the rest of the disply works fine, show the band and channel
but no frequency. I don't know if I should sell it as is or what. I'd
like to program in a freq. or two. thanks

such as the previous use of direct soldering or ribbon cables that actually
plug into a slot and firmly seat the ribbon against the connectors. I have
a Fluke meter at work that has a rubber pad that apparently has graphite
impregnated into it, and one end of the rubber pad presses against one
board, the other end against another board. Once in awhile, the unit stops
working correctly, and I need to take it apart, clean the rubber pads on
the ends, and the mating areas on the circuit boards. Put it back together,
and it works. I have also seen display faults in the DX-394 by Radio Shack
caused by the same thing.

Anyway, it may be something as simple as a bad connection in the display
area.

thanks for the reply, I'll have to take it apart CAREFULLY sometime in
the near future.
