Best Scanner Antenna

A couple questions. Can anyone suggest a good scanner antenna. I currently
have the discone from Radio Shack, But just dont think Im picking up
everything I should be. I currently have it connected to a 780 running rg-58
cable. I mainly monitor 154mhz range,500mhz range, and State Police. Thanks
in advance. Also if anyone is selling one let me know Thanks

Get rid of the discone. By design discones are broadbanded and have little
if any gain in a specific frequency. Buy a Scantenna from Grove Enterprises,
buy a Radio Shack VHF/UHF TV mast mouted amp (300 to 75 ohm) model, use RG-6
coax and mount the Scantenna as high as possible. Grove also sells F to
whatever receiver chassis adapter needed.
