The BC8500XLT had performance problems, including
audio hiss and annoying squelch tail.

The BC9000XLT is more flexible and a
much better performer. For starters, the modes are selectable
on BC9000XLT and fixed on the BC8500XLT.

I reviewed a BC9000XLT in March 1995 Monitoring Times,
published tips and modification information
in June 1996 Monitoring Times.
