FS: Pro-96 Digital Scanner by Radio Shack

I have a Radio Shack Pro-96 Serial #C012995 Catalog # 20-526 that I wish to
sell. It is in pristine condition and complete working order. I've decided I
don't need the digital capability in my area for the things I listen too, it
was mostly an impulse gadget purchase! Used a total of a few hours. Your
gain. Monitors the Michigan State Police very nicely at 9600 in my area!
This radio is just starting to show up in stores, why wait, you can have one
now and save a few bucks!

Here is what is included and it's original value:
$499.99 + tax Pro-96 with all the original items it came with (Unit,
Antenna, 2 battery cartridges, manuals and original packaging)
$5 Fresh set of AA Alkaline batteries
$30 Win96 programming software (fully registered and transferrable)
$15 2-way programming cable
$0 Slip showing date purchased and amount (for warranty)
---------------------------------------------------------------------
$580 Total paid with tax

Im asking $520 firm + $10 (USD) Shipping and insurance to Continental US
(more to Alaska and Hawaii). I will accept US Postal Money Order or Cashiers
Check.

Thanks,

I am new to scanning, and I live in Europe where we do not have
such thing as a DIGITAL scanner. Could you please explain to me
what is a digital scanner ? What does it do that other scanners do
not ? Thanks.

Take $50 off the price. It's used. Doesn't matter how little you used it.

Mr Devlin hits it on the head. I prefer not to use Paypal for all of the
reasons listed on the www.paypalwarning.com website. I prefer a USPS money
order in the alternative. There is at most a few day delay in my shipping
the item.

sigh
A little common sense goes a long way...like using a seperate card with a
very low limit for paypal, then follow up on ALL transactions. The
particular card I have I call the CC company every time I use it so they
know its me. If I *don't* call them first, they are calling me within the
hour asking if I have authorized the use of the card.
Its very comforting to know that one way or the other BOTH the bank and
myself know that the card is being legitimately used.

What are the reviews for the '96 anyway, I haven't seen any yet. Is it
worth getting? What are the Pros-Cons of this scanner? Is this the best
Scanner of it's type? For it's price, it better damn well recieve just
about EVERYTHING.

from folks ****ed off cause their credit card company had the nerve to
charge them for being late with a payment.

What does it matter? ... the joy of scanning is on the
way out anyway! I mean, between FCC fascism and
deliberate signal sabotage increasing every day, it's
almost a repulsive activity any more.

I also think you're asking way too much for your
*cell blocked* impulse purchase, but I always get kick
out of how people regard the digital platform as some
sort of "new" technology.

There's one review in the December 2003 issue of Monitoring Times. And
unfortunately, it omits the one band that I really need in a scanner:
the UHF military aircraft band at 225-400 MHz...!

I mean, what is the PROBLEM here? How hard is it to include that in a
scanner? Especially a hand-held version, which is what one would
naturally want to take along to an AIR SHOW?

I really enjoy mine...
Good audio & great reception...
There are a few things it could use, but they are minor...

The 225-400 MHz band can be opened up on the PRO-96. It has excellent
sensitivity on those frequencies. I have owned the PRO-96 for two
months now and I would put it into the same category as the Radio
Shack PRO-2006 and PRO-43. Excellent scanners that will become
"classics" to scanner buffs.

The Win96 computer control program allows you to open up all of these
frequencies. If you go to the Win96 website, you can see the results
of sensitivity tests at all of these frequencies. The address is:
