I was thumbing through the latest Monitoring Times yesterday, when I
saw an ad for the AOR SDU-5500. This seems to be very much like a spectrum analyzer. I've always wanted one of these. However, I hear that you MUST use it in conjunction with the AOR AR-5000 or similar radio. Is this true? How terrible if it is! And if not, can it work with a BC 780XLT? Has anyone ever used one of these things before? Is it as 'difficult' to use as a freq counter? Is it swamped by cellphone and pager signals? Thanks |

Have you seen the Icom PCR-1000?
It is cheaper (around $300) and has all the functions of a wide band scanning receiver plus a spectrum analyzer. Bells and whistles are limited mostly by the software. Course you will need to hook it to your computer as everything is displayed on your computer screen. Personaly I dont like using my computer to control a radio but some people love it. In fact I am thinking of selling my PCR-1000 as I seldom use it. William Lee wrote in message news:c2Esb.137218$275.414759@attbi_s53...
