Help with software and PRO-95

Hi all,

I got the correct radio shack cable (20-289) to use with the PRO-95, and I
downloaded the win95 software.

I couldn't find any instructions anywhere on the web, and when I try to
"download from scanner" I get an error message saying it couldn't open the
COM port. Under the 'configuration' menu I've tried up through COM port #10
but to no luck.

I've tried searching my computer's help for info on how to identify which
COM port is tied to the serial port I'm using, but again there's no helpful
info. I have figured out that COM3 is for the modem so port 3 is ruled out.

First I turned on the scanner, then plugged the cable into its PC/IF port,
then I try the download.

I'm stuck, so thanks in advance for the help!

The physical port might have been disabled in the BIOS settings. Take a look
at your BIOS setup -- there is usually a message telling you how to enter the
program when you boot.

Generally, the Port is "1". I have the same set up (with XP) and experienced
no troubles.

I finally figured out the problem - somehow both serial ports in my computer
were disabled. I had to change the computer's BIOS settings to re-enable
them, and now the scanner works on the front serial port with COM2.
