WTD opto digital scout scout 40 questions

i have a opto scout 40 that needs to go in for the 5th time in five
years. its always a voltage regulator. Ive complained so many times
but all they do is keep taking my money. I always use the factory
supplied power supply plugged into a surge protected outlet and this
thing keeps frying. Anyone had this same problem. I took it apart and
found the culprit its burnt. Its a v reg but im sure opto wont sell me
the part i need and the number on it is 470 thats all i know. Anyone
got an idea on what the value might be. it runs on a 7.2 nicad
batttery pack. The thing that ****es me off is i dont use it much at
all but its nice to have and when i go to turn it on poof it quits. I
charge the battery evry month though to keep the charge up.
thank for your comment sugestions in advance
