WTB: PRO-90, PRO-2050, PRO-2052, BC235XLT, BC245XLT (Read)
 

Hello all,

Got an older scanner collecting dust? Your city go digital forcing
you
to upgrade?

We currently run an ambitious project streaming many of our local
public
service communications on the internet. We do not have enough radio
receivers
at this point to cover everything, so we are looking for used
scanners.

Pro-2050/Pro-90/BC235XLT (perfer Pro-2050 tabletop, but willing to
entertain
handhelds) -- (For Suffolk, Newport News Virginia)

PRO-2052/BC245XLT -- (for various other cities)

We are located in Southeastern Virginia. The scanners go online at
www.hrconnect.com, under live audio. We charge no fees, it is a
community service.

We currently stream: Norfolk Int'l Approach, Virginia Beach Police,
Virginia Beach Fire Dept/EMS, Norfolk Fire & Rescue, Chesapeake Police
Dispatch (Digital), Various incl ACARS, Portsmouth Police & Fire,
Suffolk Police & Fire, Hampton Road's Emergency Services, and several
ICOM radios via JAVA interfaces.

We need the additional scanners to add Newport News Fire & Rescue, to
break apart Fire and Police for Portsmouth and Suffolk, and to add
Norfolk Police. In addition Williamsburg and James City County will be
added, but York County is Digital so it will be a while on that one
(or going digital). We have two bc245xlts that will be running Hampton
Police & Fire soon as the weather gets better (YAGI mounting time).
The computers are in place to add an additional 8 streams at our main
site, and several at each remote site (people's garages :-)

I am not exactly sure, but you may want to check with your local FCC
Field Office before you do such a thing. It is illegal to rebroadcast
any transmission in any form. Therefore I would suggest you check up
on that to make sure it is legal. Not a flame, just want to help...

Hello, thanks for the warning. So far we are fairly confident we are
in the clear. Many people from the various organizations use the
feeds. We see traffic from the FAA to the Norfolk feeds, and from
various cities to the respective city feeds.

Thanks for the heads up! It would be an issue if people were using the
PCR-1000s to listen to cordless phones... the radios won't do cellular
so we are good there. The one touchy thing would be people using the
PCR units to listen to FM from out of area, as the voice talent
restrictions come into play. *shrug*
