Would a regular tv antenna (on the roof) improve 2.4 GHZ reception?

That is, would it be better for recieving 2.4 GHZ than using the supplied

rod
antenna that came with the radio?

Probably not. Any RF the TV antenna could pick up on that band would be
lost through the coax on the way down to the scanner. You need some really
good coax and almost waveguide for that band. The rod antenna fully
collapsed would probably work better.
What is there to listen to up in that band? I don't have anything that can
listen up there.
