JSTARS Comms plentiful in Florida today

At 1:55pm EDT (1755z) E-8 JSTARS Mission Crew "STARGATE" was in comms
with AWACS "DRAGNET UNIFORM" on 364.2. They passed Table Numbers for crypto
between them. STARGATE was 75 miles east of Patrick AFB at the time. He
corrected his ID from "RAZOR 33" (JSTARS flight crew c/s) a couple of times.
He has also been up with Cape Radio on 10780 kHz USB, also IDing with both
callsigns for radio checks.
Earlier RAZOR 66 was also up on 10780 with a phone patch to Peachtree Ops
at Robins AFB.
At 1:58pm EDT (1758z) RAZOR 33 came up on 10780 again, and made a phone
patch to DSN 968-9055 regarding today's mission.

My apologies to you and anyone else who feels that way about my postings.
I took the liberty of looking up your AOL profile ), and
it lists you as a person named George in Florida. So I would think you would
be interested in the freqs I post for the Military comms that I hear in
Florida, since you live here. But if you are not, and if others agree that my
postings do not belong here, I will stop them. I had been posting because I
had received some messages from rec.radio.scanner folks encouraging me to post
my loggings. I'll go along with the consensus of any messages I receive on
this.
Again sorry to anyone my postings disturb; it is not my intention.

When I was a machinist, I used to make aircraft parts for Marathon Oil
Co. jets. That is a real nervous job since you know you cant make any
mistakes. I cant even imagine the pressure of working on them. It's just
not like a car that you can take on a test drive after you fix it and
hope it works.

Thanks for the kind words, Dan. Took a few years to accumulate the desktops and
handhelds I needed for Mil comms monitoring. Portables offer a significant
advantage for Mil comms monitoring.
I live right at the departure end of Patrick AFB's Rnwy 20 and within radio
range of acft approaching Homestead, MacDill, NAS Jacksonville, Eglin,
Hurlburt, Tyndall, etc, and right between Avon Park Bombing Range and
Pinecastle Bombing Range. But even if you are not alongside a Military base
you will be surprised at how many military flights are passing overhead your
area. A half-decent outside antenna will surprise you if you plug the right
freqs into your scanner or search the 225-400 and 138-144 range in AM mode.
Also a handheld with a Radio Shack center loaded whip ($14.95) is an amazing
combination for snagging Mil comms.
As for freqs, if you join the Milcom group ) you'll find
a lot of postings like mine that include listings of the freqs guys are
hearing. And there are lots of Mil monitors in the Northeast part of the
country. these postings are much more up-to-date than any web-site freq
listing you'll find or any book you might buy.
If I can help you any, don't hesitate; I'll be more than willing to guide you
any way I can toward enjoying Mil comm monitoring.
