Differance between the 785D and 796d?

I know that the 785D will track the higher controll channel at 9600 baud but
was their any other
differance between them. The 785 is sold with the card installed. But is
their anything else that the
796D will do that makes it differant? Even though the radio is still on the
Uniden site it looks like
most places do not sell it anymore.

I own a 785D and my only limitation came up when the Michigan State
Police started with the 9600 Baud Trunked system. I can get bits and
pieces if I scan them non-trunked.

Unless one of your target agencies is trunking at 9600 baud, I wouldn't
waste the money.

I guess from what I have read 9600 baud is only being used with the EDAC
trunking equipment.

The 796/296 does 9600 baud Motorola systems, where as the 785/250 only
tracks 3600 baud Motorola systems.

Both the 785/250 and the 796/296 track 4800 and 9600 baud EDACS systems
(as does the BC780). 4800 baud EDACS systems are often found on 900 and
UHF where 12.5 KHz steps are common.
